Mitsubishi to Manufacture Aircraft Components in Vietnam
Japan’s Mitsubishi Group has announced it will manufacture commercial aircraft components in Vietnam beginning in 2009.
Mitsubishi’s Heavy Industries (MHI) plans to establish a wholly-owned subsidiary MHI Aerospace Vietnam (MHIVA) in Thang Long Industrial Zone in January 2008.
The MHIVA totaling US$7 million will begin making Boeing 737 aircraft flaps in the spring of 2009 with support from the United States Boeing company.
The MHI said it will be the first manufacturer in the world to locate its aircraft-related production facility in Vietnam.
To cover 4,000 square meters in the IZ, which is situated about 16km north-west of Hanoi, the company plans to start with 50 employees and expand to 200 once production achieves momentum. (Saigon Liberation)
