Vietnam Plans to Build 16 Coal-fired Power Plants in South by 2015

Vietnam plans to construct an additional 16 coal-fired power plants in the southern key economic zones from now to 2015 to feed regional energy demand in the future, said the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
 
By 2015, between 11 and 13 new power plants with a combined capacity of from 3,700 megawatts to 5,000 MW are planned to be constructed, the ministry said.
 
Two or three coal-fired power plants are expected to be erected in the region after 2015 to add between 1,200 MW and 1,800 MW to the regional power system, it added.
 
Four 500-kV transformer stations with a combined capacity of 2,550 MVA and fifteen 220-kV stations with a combined capacity of 5,250 MVA will be installed and three 220-kV stations will be expanded.
 
As many as 138 110-kV stations with a combined capacity of 7,452 MVA will also be constructed by then and 110-kV power lines with 164 km length will be upgraded, in addition to the installation of over 1,000 km of supplementary power lines.
 
Vietnam plans to put in use 135 power plants with combined capacity of 48,744 MW from now onto 2015, under the national electricity development plan between 2006 and 2015, and vision 2025, or plan VI. (Icon)
