Japanese toy makers for children are planning huge investments into Vietnam as increasing concerns about production costs and safety of toys originated from China-based factories, state media cited JiJi press as saying on November 21.

Since early 2007, Banco - a branch of Namco Bandai Group - has started toy production in central Danang City and expected to expand its production in Vietnam via its partners in China, noted the Japan's press.

In September, Takara Tomy Group started operation on its facility in northern Haiphong city to export to EU market, and planned to move 30 per cent of its production lines from China to Vietnam and Thailand.

Taka Tomy highly appreciated Vietnam's potentials to make toy for children such as production costs, which is about one third of those in China, and skilled labor force.

China-based factories now reportedly manufactured 90 per cent Japanese makers' toys for children. (Vietnam & World Economy, VNA)
