Hon Hai to Build $1 Bln Industrial, Service Complex in Haiphong

Hon Hai Precision Industry Co Ltd, Taiwan’s top electronic part maker on November 20 signed a memorandum of understanding with the Haiphong city authorities to invest $1 billion to build an industrial, urban and entertainment complex, state media reported on November 21.
 
Hon Hai and Kinh Bac Urban Development Joint Stock Co will set up a joint venture to carry out the work, which will be located on an area of 1,000 hectares at Hai An District, said Vietnam News Agency.
 
The local authorities pledged favorable investment conditions for the future joint venture.
 
Hon Hai did not provide details about its construction schedules.
 
Hon Hai group’s Edmund Ding said during his visit to Vietnam early this year that his group plans to invest $5 billion to build two industrial parks in northern Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provinces on an area of 300 hectares.
 
Currently, Hon Hai said it is focusing its investments in Vietnam this year to build 5 industrial parks in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, which are expected to employ 30,000 jobs, said company President Terry Gou. (Vietnam & World Economy)
