Vietnam Opens Locally-invested Optical Cable Plant
The Optical Cable Technology Co, a unit of Vietnam Post and Telecommunication (VNPT), December 24 made debut an optical cable plant in Gia Lam district on the east- west outskirt of Hanoi.
The facility, installed with modern equipment imported from Europe, is expected to produce 15,000 kilometers of optical cables each year, said state-run VietNamNet website.
The plant was jointly invested by the PTP Post and Telecom Services Joint Stock Co, the Cokyvina Post and Telecom Trade Joint Stock Co, the PTIC Post Construction and Investment Co and the TST Telecom Technical Service Joint Stock Co.
Earlier, Taihan-Sacom joint venture inaugurated the Southeast Asia’s biggest cable manufacturing factory in southern Dong Nai province to produce 25,000 tons and 6,000 tons of electric and communication cables a year.
Vietnam imported US$2.7 million worth of electronic products in the first eleven months of this year, up 43.8 per cent on-year, according to the General Statistics Office. (VietNamNet, The People)
