U.S. Dell Inc Expands Operations in Vietnam
The U.S. Dell Inc has marked its expansions in Vietnam by launching the personal computer products in this emerging market after years of success in the products for companies, the Thoi Bao Kinh Te newspaper said.

&ldquoIt is the right time for Dell to penetrate into the local consumer segment as the American systems and Service Company had specially designed products for this market,&rdquo Dell executive Evan Williams said at the launching ceremony in HCM City.

Vietnam's growing demand and sophistication in the personal computer segment fitted with Dell's vision of delivering personal systems to consumers in the world, Bui Dinh Truong, country manager of Dell Vietnam, added.

&ldquoWe at Dell are ready to present ourselves with the market, with consumers at every touch points. Vietnam's burgeoning retail market and the personal computer market are growing strongly every year,&rdquo Truong also said.

Through DigiWorld Corp in Vietnam, Dell will provide its products including the award-winning tool XPS M1330 and the Inspiron line 1420 laptops, 1520 laptops, Inspiron 530 and 530s desktops.

&ldquoWe do hope that its products will fare well in this market,&rdquo Evan Williams said, noting that the boom in consumption coupled with the GDP growth reinforces Dell's decision in expanding its consumer business to Vietnam.

Vietnamese are forecast to buy 320,000 laptops worth US$336 million this year, up from the 180,000 units last year.

HP was the top selling PC brand in Vietnam last year thanks to several projects won from the government sector and a competitive strategy to target both the desktop and laptop markets in Vietnam. The followings were Acer and Lenovo. (Vietnam Economic Times)
