AIG Vietnam, a member company of American International Group, was in conjunction with Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) to hold a seminar on export risks and risk management on June 27, 2008.

The seminar focused on discussing and giving details regarding what exporters should be looking for to ensure that their goods in particular and their export activities in general are properly protected. Not just that, the seminar alerted exporters on credit risk over which parties in other countries whom Vietnam exporters sell the goods to do not fulfill their payment obligations when the exporters have done their part. The solution to the problem is termed as trade credit Insurance.

The Trade Credit Insurance not only forms a complete solution for managing risks pertaining to export, but also be a value adding tool to local export products that help Vietnamese exporters to improve their bargain position when negotiating with buyers.

Mr. Terence Anderson, General Director of AIG Vietnam said: &ldquoOpening up of the economy and operating in global markets means that we can not work alone. We need partners. On party knows his business the best. Say a Vietnamese exporter how to produce the gods. The other party may have experience and knowledge of risk, how to manage it, and to cover it. I believe that AIG can be the great partner for Vietnamese exporters&rdquo.
