Eurocham Plays Key Role in Boosting Vietnam-EU Trade, Investment Ties
The European Chamber of Commerce (Eurocham) has assisted around 600 European businesses to seek partners in Vietnam through its active operation in the country since its establishment a decade ago, reported Vietnam News Agency.
The chamber has held up to 20 business seminars in big cities such as Hue, Can Tho, Nha Trang, Buon Me Thuot, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, bringing EU and local businesses together since early 2007.
Additionally, Eurocham has hosted various events to provide information on the EU market to Vietnamese exporters, helping accelerate bilateral trade value.
In 2007, two-way trade between Vietnam and the EU climbed to US$17.4 billion. In the first eight months of this year, the figure was already US$14.9 billion.
The bilateral trade value is expected to increase to US$20.54 billion this year.
European businesses invested US$24.5 billion in almost all sectors in Vietnam by late 2007.
According to Ambassador Sean Doyle, Head of the European Commission (EC) delegation to Vietnam, EU businesses led foreign investors in Vietnam in terms of capital disbursement which was estimated at nearly US$5 billion in total last year.
Eurocham President Alan Cany said: “the chamber is committed to working closely with all partners to help Vietnam reach and maintain its very fullest potential.”
