Pha Rung Co. Lays Down Keel of 13,000-DWT Oil-chemical Ship
The Pha Rung Shipyard Company, an affiliate of the Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry group (Vinashin), November 17 started work on an oil-chemical tanker with loading capacity of 13,000 DWT, the Vietnam News Agency-run Vietnam & World Report reported.
The vessel is designed with 128.6 meters in length, 20.4 meters in width, and an average velocity of 13.5 nautical miles per hour, the paper said.
The successful construction of oil-chemical tankers with loading capacity of between 6,500DWT and 13,000 DWT is expected to open up new prospects for Pha Rung, which was once the country’s largest ship repair establishment.
On the same day, the Haiphong-based company handed over a 6,500 DWT chemical and oil tanker to the Korean Fortune Mariane Co., Ltd., the fourth among five vessels that were contracted to build between the two companies. (VNA)
