Vietnam Airlines Pledges not to Raise Air Fare
Vietnam Airlines will not raise air fare during the Lunar New Year festival even though the Ministry of Finance allowed domestic airlines to decide their price level, Pham Ngoc Minh, general director of the national carrier confirmed.
“Vietnam Airlines will not raise ticket prices, not collect fuel surcharges on almost all of inbound flights while offering more ticket levels to meet high travel demand during the festival,” Minh said, adding that the move is in line with the Government’s effort to curb inflation.
The commitment is expected to please travelers who have worried that local airlines will raise air fare after the Ministry of Finance issued circular No. 103 removing ceiling air fare and allowing local airlines to decide their own prices.
Vietnam Airlines will finally sell tickets on the Internet as of December 15, 2008 after several times of delay.
To meet increasing travel demand during this traditional Tet festival, the airline will add more than 800 flights on domestic route. (Saigon Liberation, News)
