Toshiba to Build US$77-Mln Motor Plant in Vietnam
Japan’s Toshiba Corp. said it will invest US$77 million in building an industrial motor factory in Vietnam to meet demand for devices which consume less power and emit less carbon dioxide, state media reported.
The facility will cover 80,000 square meters at southern Dong Nai province’s Amata Industrial Park, near Ho Chi Minh City, the Tokyo-based company.
Construction of the factory will begin in April 2009, with production scheduled in September 2010.
When reaching full capacity in 2015, the factory will be able to manufacture up to 1.2 million high-efficiency industrial motors rated at under 100 horsepower, plus their parts a year, including key components.
The new motor-making factory, Toshiba’s fourth, will help raise revenues to 70 billion yen (US$774 million) in the year ending March 2016. (Vietnam Economic Times)
