Newly appointed Country Director of the World Bank, Ms Victoria Kwakwa told Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung in Hanoi on Feb 17 that the WB will be ready to give supportive hands to Hanoi in building policies to deal with effects of the global economic recession.

This is very challenging time for Vietnam, however, it will open many opportunities for Vietnam to continue its ongoing reforms, Ms Kwakwa noted.

Meanwhile, World Bank Vice President, James Adams shared difficulties and challenges facing Vietnam, advised it to continue open trade and maintain international integration.

In return, Deputy PM Hung noted Vietnam is optimizing its inner strengths and tap outside resources to ward off the economic slowdown.

Vietnam is focusing on infrastructure development, agricultural production and rural development strategies, therefore it wants to receive continued supports from the bank, Hung added. (chinhphu.vn)
