U.S.' Film Marker Enters Vietnamese Market

U.S. filmmaker Warner Bros announced on March 12 the Nhan Hieu Toan Cau joint stock company has been selected as its sub-licensing partner in three Indochinese nations of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.
 
The Toan Cau JS Company will team up with Global Brands Group, an agent for Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP) in Southeast Asia and Indochina, to establish the licensing business for WBCP’ portfolio of brands, including Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry, Harry Potter, Batman, Superman, and Scooby-Doo.
 
Under the partnership, local enterprises will produce categories such as publishing materials, apparel, accessories, toys, stationery which are permit to exploit the above-mentioned brands.  
 
Licensing categories includes products such as publishing materials, apparel, accessories, toys, stationery, gifts, novelties, as well as branded food, personal care products, and promotion licensing.
 
Tran Thi Trang Nhu, director of business development of the Toan Cau JS Company, said there have had four Vietnamese businesses in the publishing, paper and apparel industries licensed to use Tom and Jerry and Superman brands on their products.
 
On March 12, the Vietnamese National Assembly’s Standing Committee discussed the revised Cinema Law, which proposes establishing of joint ventures with foreign partners in three aspects including production, issuance and popularization of films.
 
Local lawmakers agreed that some regulations under the law should be changed as the country has now become an official member of the World Trade Organization (WTO). (Young People, VNS)
