The giant American manufacturer Nike has announced to halt ordering its 32 partner factories in Asia, including Samho Co. Ltd. in Vietnam, according to the source from Vietnam Leather Shoes Association (Lefaso).

Currently, Samho Vietnam, located in Cu Chi district, Ho Chi Minh City is employing over 6,000 laborers, is producing Nike shoes.

The stop will come into force in six months in order to facilitate the Vietnamese partner to seek for new clients, said a Nike official, pledging it will cooperate closely with the company in transferring the supply network.

Except for the halt to Samho Vietnam, the leading sports shoemaker said it would still increase the output of footwear and remain the order of apparels and sports tools in Vietnam.

There are over 50 factories processing Nike products in Vietnam, creating jobs for above 200,000 local laborers. (Vietnam Economic Times, Labor)
