GE Foundation Grants Scholarships to Vietnamese Students
The Institute of International Education in Vietnam (IIE-Vietnam) said GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders Scholarship Program 2009 will grant scholarships to economically disadvantaged students at top-notch Vietnamese universities.
This year, the scholarship has been increased from US$3,450 to US$3,600 for three consecutive academic years for 15 outstanding students in the fields of business, engineering, and science. Applicant must be a first year student from one of 10 participating universities, be in good academic standing and possesses leadership skills.
Fifteen students will receive a total financial support of US$3,600 (US$1,200 annually) for the remainder of their studies up to a maximum of three years, assuming continued satisfactory academic performance.
The programme includes a three-day Leadership Development Seminar that brings the Scholar-Leaders together to share ideas and develop networks, a mentoring component and a community service requirement.
The Scholar-Leaders Programme is funded by the GE Foundation (www.gefoundation.com), the philanthropic organization of the General Electric Company. The scholarships represent an investment in initiatives that improve educational opportunity and strengthen community organizations in GE communities in Vietnam and around the world.
