The Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade has recently proposed to select the Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin) as a general contractor of some coal-fired power, cement and fertilizer plants.

The ministry has asked the group together with local engineering firms to supply coal and other materials for those plants.

Names of the plants, however, have not been made available.

According to the ministry, Vinacomin has clinched deals with FL.Smidth KOCH group of Germany on cooperation and transfer of technologies of designing, processing, and manufacturing synchronic equipment for coal and unconnected materials.

Vinacomin has targeted to produce 40 million tons of coal this year, including 20.5 million tons for exports and the rest of 19.5 million for domestic sales. (Labor)
