Vietnam Q1 Crude Oil Export Value Falls 45.5 per cent to US$1.42 Bln

Vietnam is estimated to have exported 4.258 million tons of crude oil worth US$1.426 billion in the first quarter of this year, down 45.5 per cent on year in value but up 22.4 per cent in volume, said the General Statistics Office (GSO).
 
In March, the country is forecast to ship over 1.464 million tons of crude oil abroad, up 4.2 per cent on-month and 22.0 per cent on year, according to the office.
 
Vietnam is estimate to have earned US$490 million from outbound shipments in March, up 2.51 per cent on month but down 48.69 per cent on year, the office noted.
 
Crude oil is now Vietnam’s largest forex earner, representing 10.54 per cent of the country’s export revenues in the quarter, said the office.
 
The country is predicted to spend US$1.128 billion importing 2.94 million metric tons of petroleum products in the quarter, down 60.2 per cent on year in value and 17.7 per cent in volume. (GSO Mar 2009)
