Agricultural Hi-tech Park to Start Operations in Sep 2009
The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee said Cu Chi District and Saigon Agriculture Corp (SAGRI) will build two or three agricultural hi-tech parks to meet the growing demand of interested enterprises.
The municipality said hi-tech parks and investors need to help local farmers. Particularly, they must focus on providing high-quality varieties at reasonable prices, training and providing hi-tech to breeding varieties for farmers to expand production.
The authority board of the Saigon Agricultural Hi-tech Park has attracted many investors to register. Only five licensed investors registered to lease 28 hectares out of 56 hectares to build factories. Products from the park will be new rare and strange rice varieties, fruit trees and animals.
Unlike the Southern Fruit Research Institute (SOFRI) in Tien Giang province which research and transfer fruits, the Saigon Agricultural Hi-tech Park is like an industrial park where it will test new varieties and apply new global achievements with participation of foreign specialists and engineers.
