Vietnam Q1 Clean Coal Output Down 6.7 per cent On Year to 9.69M Tons

Vietnam is estimated to have produced 9.69 million tons of clean coal in the first three months of this year, down 6.7 per cent on year, said the General Statistics Office (GSO).
 
In March, the country’s clean coal output is forecast to hit 3.86 million tons, down 9.5 per cent on year, the office said.
 
The Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin), the country’s biggest coal producer, is estimated to have shipped abroad 5.28 million tons of coal valued at US$262 million in the first three months this year, down 12.2 per cent on-year in volume and 1.4 per cent on-year in value, according to the GSO.
 
The group targets to produce 40 million tons of coal this year, including 20.5 million tons for exports and 19.5 million tons for domestic sales. (GSO Mar 2009)
