Malaysia Firm to Build $2B Coal-fired Power Plant in North Vietnam
Jaks Resources Bhd Group of Malaysia will build a 1,200-MW coal-fired power plant worth $2 billion in northern Hai Duong province.
Jaks Resources Bhd group has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade.
The Malaysian firm will develop the plant under the BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) form.
The two-turbine plant is slated for groundbreaking in October 2010 in Kinh Mon district, and is expected to generate 7.8 billion kWh of power annually by early 2014. (Vietnam Economic Times)
