Canada May Impose Anti-Dumping Taxes of 16 per cent, 49 per cent over Vietnamese Shoes
Canada might impose the anti-dumping taxes of 16 per cent and 49 per cent over waterproof rubber-soled shoes shipped from Vietnam, the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Department of Competition Management said June 2.
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) finished preliminarily the anti-dumping investigation into waterproof rubber footwear originated from Vietnam and China on May 28, the department reported.
Under the investigation result, the tariff level of 16 per cent will be imposed on Vietnamese exporters who have worked with the CBSA while the level of 49 per cent given to those who have not joined hands with the CBSA.
The tariff levels imposed on Chinese manufacturers are 21.7 per cent and 52.3 per cent.
The CBSA has also announced to conduct the official investigation from now to August 26.
On schedule, the CBSA will send its experts to work directly with four Vietnamese shoe makers and the Vietnam Leather and Footwear Association (Lefaso) from June 8-20.
The suit started on February 27 as the Shoe Manufacturers' Association of Canada filed a complaint that waterproof rubber-soled shoes from Vietnam and China were being dumped in the Canadian market. (CafeF, Labor)
