Vietnam Imports 2.47M Tons of Fertilizer in Jan-July
Vietnam had spent US$801 million importing 2.47 million tons of fertilizers in the first seven months this year, down 31.2 per cent in value despite a rise of 3.6 per cent in volume against the same period last year.
The volume includes 762,000 tons of urea, valued at US$230 million, up 35.5 per cent in volume and 5 per cent in value on-year.
In the period, the country imported 621,000 tons of DAP, 650,000 tons of SA, and 189,000 tons of NPK fertilizers, representing year-on-year increases of 83 per cent, 36.8 per cent, and 28 per cent, respectively.
Prices of fertilizers currently remain stable at domestic market with phosphate fertilizer standing at VND2,500 per kilo and NPK VND12,200 per kilo.
This year, Vietnam will need around 9.3 million tons of fertilizers, including nearly 2 million tons of urea; 2.5 million-3 million tons of NPK; 1.7 million tons of phosphate; 800,000 tons of kali; 750,000 tons of DAP and 750,000 tons of SA fertilizers.
The country will have to import four million tons, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. (Vietnam Agriculture)
