U.K Mott MacDonald Signs Consultancy Deal for Vietnam’s Power Plant
Mott MacDonald, a management, engineering and development consultancy firm from the U.K., signed a deal to provide technical consultancy services for the 1,200-MW Kien Luong 1 thermal power plant in the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang.
Under the agreement, the U.K firm will help the plant’s investor -- Tan Tao Energy Joint Stock Company –select an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for the plant and will supervise the construction and the test run of the plant.
The VND45.792 trillion (US$2.57 billion) plant is part of Vietnam’s largest thermal power center Kien Luong, which has a combined capacity of 5,200 MW and costs nearly US$7 billion.
Once operational in 2013 or 2014, the two-turbine plant will contribute between 8.1 billion and 8.64 billion kWh of power to the national electricity grid. (Vietnam & World Economy, Investment)
