SK Telecom to Stop Further Investment in S-Fone Vietnam
South Korean-based SK Telecom Corporation will stop investing further in S-Fone Vietnam because of low subscription.
SK Telecom and Saigon Postel Corp. (SPT) inked an agreement to start providing CDMA mobile services through the S-Fone joint venture from 2003, said Tran Thi Ngoc Binh, SPT general director.
So far S-Fone, which is the only provider of mobile phone services based on CDMA technology, has about six million subscribers, or less than one tenth of the total market share.
SPT will find other partners to ensure the operation of S-Fone and the rights of subscribers, she added. (Youth)
