The Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) has just announced a plan to restructure five state-owned corporations as part of the government efforts to sharpen competitive edges of the domestic rural production.

However, the MARD did not give details of the reshuffle.

Under the plan, MARD will merge the Vietnam National Salt Corporation into the Vietnam Northern Food Corporation (Vinafood 1), the Vietnam Sericulture Corporation (VISERI) into Vietnam Coffee Corporation.

Three other corporations: Vietnam National Seaproducts Corporations (Seaprodex), Ha Long Fisheries Corporation and East Sea Fisheries Corporation will be merged into one firm, the MARD noted.

“Restructuring these corporations will help apply hi-tech, investments to expand rural production and boost its competitiveness,” the MARD said. (Cafef)
