The Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs jointly launched an Asean-2010 logo contest on August 18 to prepare for the country’s assumption of the bloc’s rotating presidency next year.

The winning logo will be used at meetings and official activities as well as for ASEAN-related events that take place in Vietnam in 2010.

Vietnam and other member nations will give priority to introducing the spirit and content of the ASEAN Charter, which the bloc passed in 2008, into the life during the year.

2010 will also mark the beginning of a 5-year scheme to build an ASEAN community, which will take shape by 2015.

The ten ASEAN nations include Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. (Liberated Saigon, VNA)
