Twenty companies listed on Vietnam’s two stock exchanges received awards August 26 for achieving high credit ratings under a competition held by the Credit Information Center of the State Bank of Vietnam and the U.S. credit information firm Dun & Bradstreet.

The prize winners included HOSE-listed firms of Binh Dinh Mineral JSC (BMC), FPT Corp. (FPT), Vietnam Dairy Products Corp (VNM) and National Seed JSC (NSC) and HNX-listed companies including Hai Ha Confectionery JSC (HHC), Tien Phong Plastics JSC (NTP) and Nhi Hiep Brick and Tile JSC (NHC).

They were selected from 361 companies, including 166 listed on the southern bourse and 204 on the northern bourse. Listed banks and funds were not covered, said the center’s General Director Pham Cong Uan.

Eligible companies must have the highest credit rating of AAA for three consecutive years.

A company with an AAA rating has highly effective operations, long development prospects, strong financial capacity, a good debt payment history and very low risk.

Other criteria were high earnings per share (EPS), return on total assets (ROA) and return on equity (ROE).

Under the Credit Information Center’s rating results, 31.3% of the 361 listed firms are rated as AAA. Up to 57.1% of the listed companies in rubber and paper fields have an AAA rating. (VNA)
