Vietnam Jan-Aug LPG Production Estimated up 1.6% on-yr to 179,400 Tons
Vietnam is estimated to have produced 179,400 tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in the first eight months of this year, up 1.6% from a year earlier, the government’s General Statistics Office (GSO) reported.
The country is estimated to have produced 22,400 tons of LPG in August, up 1.9% from last August, the GSO said.
Between January and August, the Southeast Asian nation is estimated to have imported 511,000 metric tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) valued at US$256 million to feed domestic demand.
Vietnam now has around 100 gas trading companies, including 10 large firms responsible for importing and distributing LPG in the local market.
Currently, foreign-led joint venture companies own over 50% of the market share. They usually adjust selling prices monthly. (GSO Aug 2009)
