Vietnam-Hong Kong Trade Hits US$663.338M in H1

Bilateral trade between Vietnam and Hong Kong reached US$663.338 million in the first half of this year, down 66% against the same period last year, the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s information center said on August 27.
 
Vietnam exported US$337.661 million worth of goods to Hong Kong during the period, down 14% on-year. Vietnam imported US$325.676 million worth of goods, down 79% on-year.
 
The country reported a trade surplus of US$11.985 million with Hong Kong during the first half.
 
Among the country’s export staples to Hong Kong, computers, electronics and spare parts topped the list with US$49.74 million, followed by machines, equipment and spare parts with US$49.25 million, seafood with US$37.8 million, footwear with US$20.66 million and garments and textiles with US$16.96 million.
 
Vietnam’s key imports from Hong Kong included cloth worth US$124.003 million, apparel and footwear accessories worth US$67.726 million, machines, equipment and spare parts worth US$34.102 million, plastic materials worth US$12 million and plastic products worth US$10.469 million.
 
Two-way trade between Vietnam and Hong Kong grew last year by 23.1% to US$3.75 billion with Vietnam exporting US$998 million worth of goods and importing US$2.76 billion in goods. (Vinanet)
