Vietnam’s 1st Oil Refinery to Export First Propylene Batch to Japan September
The management board of Vietnam’s first oil refinery Dung Quat will export its first batch of propylene to Japanese Marubeni Corporation next month.
The cargo’s volume and value, however, has not been made available.
The state-run Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) will also use the product to feed its US$232-million polypropylene production plant that is under construction next to the Dung Quat oil refinery and will be put into operation next year.
Once operational at full capacity, the refinery is capable of refining between 75,000 tons and 150,000 tons of propylene annually.
Since the trial run in April 2008 through August 15, 2009, the oil refinery produced a combined 437,000 tons of petroleum products, including 39,000 tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), 200,000 tons of gasoline A92, 38,000 tons of kerosene, 142,000 tons of diesel (DO) and 18,000 tons of mazut (FO).
