Vietnam-Germany H1 Trade Hits US$1.49B

Bilateral trade between Vietnam and Germany reached US$1.49 billion in the first half of this year, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said.
 
Vietnam exported US$900.53 million worth of goods to Germany, down 10% against the same period last year, and imported US$589.47 million in goods.
 
During the first half, the country ran a trade surplus of US$311.06 million with Germany, said the ministry.
 
Germany’s importation of US$189.103 million worth of garments and textiles topped the list of German imports.
 
Other imported products included US$189.103 million worth of footwear, US$118.346 million of coffee, US$94.899 million of seafood, US$41.997 million of wood furniture, US$40.181 million of handbags, suitcases and umbrellas, US$36.324 million of vehicles and components and US$25.374 million of plastic products.
 
Machines, equipment, mechanical and optical products, pharmaceuticals, office equipment, rubber products, automobiles, chemicals and chemical products were Vietnam’s key imports from Germany.
 
At present, Germany is Vietnam’s largest trade partner from the EU, making up 27% of the total bilateral trade between Vietnam and the EU.
 
Last year, bilateral trade between Vietnam and Germany reached US$3.5 billion, including US$2.07 billion worth of Vietnam’s goods exports, up 17% and 16% on-year, respectively. (Industry & Trade, vinanet)
