Int’l Sea Travelers to Vietnam Down 54% in Jan-August
Vietnam welcomed 52,300 international travelers by sea in the first eight months of this year, a decrease of 54% from a year ago.
The figure accounted for 2.11% of the total number of international tourists to the country during the period.
At a meeting on sea tourism development on September 16, tourism officials suggested more investment in upgrading and construction of sea ports in coastal localities.
They also urged the localities to boost sea tourism promotion and cooperation with regional nations, including Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong.
Currently, the number of international sea travelers makes up between 5% and 6% of the total figure of international tourists to Vietnam. (Vietnam & World Economy)
