Vietnam, New Zealand Approve Comprehensive Partnership
Party Chief Nong Duc Manh and Prime Minister John Key have agreed to raise the Vietnam-New Zealand relationship to “comprehensive partnership” level, the Communist Party of Vietnam said.
The two leaders reached the unanimity during their high-profile talks in Wellington, New Zealand’s capital city, on September 10.
Manh and John Key agreed to boost the exchange of delegations at all levels in order for the closer relationship and mutual support on international arena, expand the two-way trade and ties in construction, mining, light industry, processing industry, finance and service.
Last year, bilateral trade was US$450 million, and enhance
New Zealand’s leader reaffirmed the commitment to continue the development assistance program for Vietnam in the coming years, to further support Vietnam through Poverty Reduction Support Credit (PRSC) and maintain education and training cooperation programs.
They also discussed the earlier signing of cooperative deals in aspects of sciences- technology, customs, security and push up negotiations for the signing of an agreement on double taxation avoidance.
After the talks, the two leaders issued a joint communiqué on the Vietnam-New Zealand Comprehensive Partnership. (CPV, People’s Army)
