The Ministries of Finance, and Planning and Investment should arrange VND1,781 billion (US$99.82 million) for the state-owned Electricity of Vietnam Group (EVN) to carry out power projects next year, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade is also seeking prioritized official development assistance loans from the two ministries for EVN’s power projects in the near term.

The proposals are aimed at easing EVN’s current capital shortfall and speed up the implementation of the group’s projects to complete them on schedules, the ministry added.

EVN is estimated to need VND647.038 trillion (US$36.266 billion) to invest in power projects and to refund banks’ loans in the 2009-2015 period but it may mobilize only VND264.108 trillion. (Vietnam Economic Times)
