Life is getting better and the demand for holidays, study and business abroad is increasing in Vietnam. According to the estimation, around 50,000 Vietnamese students go abroad for studies and some one million Vietnamese people travel abroad for business or holiday. Apart from delights in visiting and communicating with new friends and enjoying spectacular discoveries in new places you visit, you also will meet such challenges as differences in culture, language and climate. Annoyances may happen to us at anytime and without any notice in advance. Thus, they will make our life uneasy to a certain extent. Especially, when we lose passports, luggage, or suffer illness or accident, we are usually confused in finding solutions. How can we solve such displeasures?

To provide maximum assistance to customers in such hardships, since late 2006, AAA Assurance Corporation officially introduced the Global Travel Insurance product to the Vietnamese market. This is a world acclaimed travel insurance product of the Switzerland-based Assist-Card International. In the world, especially in Europe, the Global Travel Insurance is compared as a fellow traveller and a talisman of any traveller when they are going to other countries for tourism and on business.

Assist-Card International has gathered 34 companies cooperating in selling Assist-card products throughout the world. At present, emergency support service has been covered in 99 countries. For the time being, AAA Assurance is the sole and unique distributor of Assist-Card in Vietnam. Although this is not the unique travel insurance product in the market, AAA Assurance’s global support service convinced its customers of product superiority. Unlike traditional travel insurance products (when policyholders encounter incidents, they have to go on their own to settle medical expenses and then bring health documents to insurers for refunding), Assist-Card is attractive for its worldwide readiness to respond to any incidents of its customers around the clock and its commitments to guarantee medical expenses or represent customers to settle medical expenses in foreign countries in case bad luck happens. For instance, when Assist-Card policyholders travel to any of 99 covered countries, if they are ill or meet with misfortunes, they only need to call the hotline to the Global Emergency Assistance Centres (also supporting Vietnamese) and Assist-Card will immediately instruct, assist and send staffs to help its customers out of problems at anytime, even at weekends and holidays. All expenses will be directly settled by Assist-Card in foreign countries and the customers certainly do not need to worry about it. Outside 99 countries covered by Assist-Card’s operations, AAA Assurance’s customers are still insured in traditional methods.

Apart from medical care, Assist-Card also provides emergency supports for other needs such as the loss of luggage and passports and the delay of flights to help its customers get out of troubles as quickly as possible. In general, when the policyholders encounter troubles in foreign nations, they only need to call the Global Emergency Assistance Centre (supporting Vietnamese language) in Ho Chi Minh City on the hotline number (84.8) 3824 0000 or call any of the 49 Global Emergency Assistance Centres for help. At present, about one million Vietnamese people travel abroad a year but only 2 per cent of them hold insurance policies. When the need for personal convenience and safety increases, many people will be willing to pay a small sum of money to have a devoted fellow traveller.

Ms Nguyen Ngoc My in Ward 3, District 10, Ho Chi Minh City
“When I travelled to Australia, my relatives repeatedly advised me to purchase insurance policies. In fact, I purchased it but I did not trust the insurance services and I hoped misfortunes would not happen. Unluckily, I was infectious with flu and seriously injured. At that time, I remembered that I had purchased insurance policies and I told my husband to call AAA Assurance. Switchboard operators were very active and made regular contacts with us to ask for information, instructed and introduced doctors for home care for me. I felt this was a very good service; thus, I purchased it when I went to Australia.”

Ms Luu Thi My Duyen, working for NTS Saigon Company (223 Bis Hai Ba Trung Street, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City)
“Although my relative passed away, my family’s and my agony considerably subsided when we received considerate, attentive and timely care from AAA Assurance. I never imagined that the indemnity was such a big sum. Most importantly, I received the warmth and sincerity from AAA Assurance.”
Duyen’s husband, Nguyen Huynh Phat, purchased the Global Travel Insurance policy (business class) at US$26 from AAA Assurance. On the following day, he suddenly died on a flight from Vietnam to the United States. The misfortune was immediately relayed to Phat’s family by the Global Service Centre. Duyen was informed to take VND253 million of indemnity from AAA Assurance.

“I felt warm and happy when I am apart from my hometown. I would like to send congratulations to AAA Assurance Corporation to have capable, responsible and wholehearted staffs like Thao and Trang. These collaborators are the very active elements for the corporation to develop and thrive in both Vietnamese and global markets. Hopefully, the corporation will be further prosperous and will have much more customers. I am very happy and proud when I chose the right partner for my happy and secured travel. I have introduced my friends in Vietnam and foreign countries to purchase insurance products from AAA Assurance Corporation when they are on foreign trips to enjoy the safety and happiness of the travel.”

A relative of Phan Van Dai in My Hung village, My Lam commune, Hon Dat district, Kien Giang province
“Although my relative passed away, my family’s grief was relieved by heartfelt and responsible behaviours of AAA Assurance’s Alarm Centre staffs.”
In late 2007, Mr Dai purchased the Global Travel Insurance from AAA Assurance at US$81.1. On December 13, 2007, a horrible road traffic accident claimed the life of the passenger residing in Victoria, Australia. The bad luck was transferred to Alarm Centre and the centre’s staffs arranged the indemnity for the victim’s family in the quickest manner.
