Vietnam Province Approves Rubber Development Project in 2009-2010

Vietnam’s central highlands province of Dak Lak has approved a rubber development project that costs VND2.245 trillion in 2009-2020.
 
The province will develop rubber plantation in 77 communes in Buon Ma Thuot city, Buon Ho township and 10 districts of Ea H’Leo, Ea Sup, Krong Nong, Krong Buk, Buon Don, Cu M’Gar, Ea Kar, Krong Pak and Cu Kuin.
 
The project will expand the province’s total rubber area to 49,140 hectares in 2020, up by 24,410 hectares from 2008. Of the total, some 36,870 hectares will be harvestable with expected yield of 1.65 tons/hectare.
 
In the first nine months of 2009, Dak Lak produced 9,072 tons of rubber latex, meeting 51.36% the year’s plan. (Vietnam Agriculture)
