Vietnam National Shipping Lines (Vinalines) started building a $3.6-billion international transshipment port in the central province of Khanh Hoa on Oct 31 in the witness of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

Construction of a 12,500-meter Van Phong international transshipment port will be developed into four phases.

Once operational, the Van Phong port will have 42 wharves and is expected to handle up to 200 million tons of cargo a year.

Under Vietnam’s seaport development plan until 2020, Van Phong Bay is the only place designed to develop an international transshipment port. (chinhphu.vn)
