Vietnam is forecast to consume 1.5 million tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in 2013.

The country will be able to produce 700,000 tons of LPG, therefore it will have to import the remaining 800,000 tons of the products to meet the domestic demand, according to Deputy General Director Nguyen Lan Phuong of Vinabenny Energy Joint Stock Company.

The demand will soar to 2.4 million tons by 2020, Phuong attributed.

She noted that domestic production is estimated to satisfy 45% of the total demand during 2010-2020 and less than 40% after 2020, and the country should do storage well.
Vietnam’s current LPG storage capacity is equivalent to 20 days of consumption, she added. (VIR)
