Vietnam produced 3.78 million tons of rolled steel in the first ten months of this year, rising 18.7% from a year earlier, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

In October, the country’s rolled steel output stood at 390,000 tons, said the ministry without giving on-year comparative figure.

Vietnam’s total steel production capacity is estimated at eight million tons by the end of this year, said Chairman of the Vietnam Steel Association (VSA) Pham Chi Cuong.

Meanwhile, the domestic steel consumption will be around five million tons, resulting in a huge steel surplus of 3 million tons this year, the chairman added. (Vietnam Law)
