Vietnam Airlines to Buy 4 Airbus A380
National carrier Vietnam Airlines signed Thursday a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Airbus parent EADS to buy four superjumbo passenger jets, the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on its website.
The MOU, inked on the occasion of a three-day visit by French Prime Minister Francois Fillon to Vietnam, marks a move for the airline’s fleet expansion plans.
Lahoud said Vietnam Airlines bought the first new A380 airplanes from Airbus in 2006 at $200 million-$300 million on average each.
The airline has set a goal to triple its fleet from its current 50 to 150 aircraft by 2020. (Vnbusiness)
