Hanoi Post, Telecom Industry Posts Revenue of VND12T in 2009
Hanoi’s posts and telecommunications industry expects to have revenues of VND11.956 trillion (US$647 million) this year, including VND10.61 trillion from telecom sector.
The Department of Information and Communication said Hanoi now has 12 telecom service companies, 45 internet service providers, 10 firms licensed to set up telecom infrastructure network and over 50 post companies.
So far, telecom firms the capital city serve 17 million mobile phone subscribers and 890,000 broadband internet subscribers.
In 2009, the department has also detected 34 individuals and organizations violating regulations, with total fine of VND144.9 million. (New Hanoi)
