HCM City to Invest VND12T in Waterway Projects by 2020
Ho Chi Minh City plans to invest VND12 trillion (US$649.3 million) in waterway projects from now to 2020, according to the municipal official.
Among these projects, two projects are given priority to implement in the 2010-2015 period including clearing waterway route liking to Saigon river with Dong Nai river and other route from Saigon river to Vam Co Dong river.
Once operational, two routes are expected to facilitate ships into Saigon river and reduce distance between the locations by 13 kilometers and 30 kilometers, respectively, Head of Waterway Transport Management Department Phan Cong Bang said.
The city is expected to spend VND33.665 trillion on development projects this year. Of the total figures, the city can arrange only VND14.044 trillion or 41.72% while it is seeking the rest of VND19.621 trillion from the state budget. (HCM City Law)
