Vietnam’s National Assembly Yoosk Site Launched
The official Yoosk site of the Office of Vietnam’s National Assembly (
http://hoidap.quochoi.vn) is launched on March 23 opening another official digital engagement platform in Vietnam which connects the National Assembly’s deputies and their constituents as well as the general public.
The site is the direct outcome of a £30,000 project funded by the British Embassy Hanoi since October 2009, taking forward an online platform that has been widely used by Government’s officials in the UK. The launching ceremony was attended by Scott Wightman, Director for Asia Pacific Region, Foreign & Commonwealth Office, British Ambassador Mark Kent, Deputy Head of National Assembly Office Nguyen Si Dung and many National Assembly’s deputies.
http://hoidap.quochoi.vn or Yoosk allows the public to raise questions of their interests to National Assembly deputies; the questions can be sent directly to a specific deputy on the list of participating deputies or they can be asked under a thematic topic. These questions can be answered immediately or a specific deadline can be set for an answer. One interesting feature of Yoosk is the voting mechanism which allows users to rate the questions/answers; users are also allowed to post their comments towards a specific question or answer.
“In the UK, our Foreign Secretary and many MPs have been using Yoosk to engage with the public. In Vietnam, our colleagues at the National Assembly Office have been very active in taking forward this initiative to foster their public engagement. The UK stand ready to support Vietnam’s efforts to build public diplomacy capacity aiming at enhancing transparency and accountability; and this project is a strong evidence for our commitment,” says British Ambassador Mark Kent.
