Increasing Compensation, Support in Irrigation, Hydropower Projects

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has issued a decision to raise the rate of compensation, support and resettlement in irrigation and hydropower projects (except ODA-funded) projects from June 1, 2010.

In case the new land value is lower than the abandoned one, resettled people will be compensated the difference. In case the value of new land is higher, they will do not have to pay for the difference.

Where land is withdrawn eligible for compensation for land but the papers did not clearly define land use based on the written certification signed by the commune authorities, all council compensation for site clearance and land use to calculate the area of compensation. In case affected people satisfy compensation conditions but they do not have certificates for the owned areas, the confirmation papers of local authorities will be the final decision.
