Savills Vietnam, the leading real estate service provider with more than 15 years experience in Vietnam has just triumphed at the Asia Pacific Property Awards. The results of the Asia Pacific Property Awards 2010 in association with Bloomberg Television have been revealed and Savills Vietnam is proud to be among the winners.

Successful entrants were announced at a gala awards dinner held at the Langham Hotel in Hong Kong on April 16th. Savills Vietnam was presented the following awards: Best Property Consultancy (Asia Pacific), Best Real Estate Agency (Vietnam), and Best Property Consultancy (Vietnam).

Vietnam Business Forum reporter Kim Phuong talked with Matthew Powell, Hanoi Branch Director of Savills Vietnam about this recent accomplishment and the growth of real estate market in Vietnam.

Could you talk about the awards?
These awards are part of the International Property Awards which have been established for over 15 years and cover residential as well as commercial categories. Their prime focus is to seek out the best real estate organizations and developments from across the globe.

The awards are split into regions covering the Americas, Asia Pacific, Europe & Africa, the Middle East and the UK. Participants enter at their relevant national level and are judged by a highly experienced team of professionals covering the whole range of property disciplines. The judging panel is formed by a large group of professionals whose collective knowledge of the property industry is unsurpassed by any other property awards. This year’s judges include Ben Wood, industry head of property markets for Google UK; Peter Bolton King, group chief executive of the National Federation of Property Professionals; Christopher Hall, president elect of FIABCI; Patrick Grove, executive chairman of i.Property.com Group Asia Ltd; Thijis Stoffer, International Consortium of Real Estate Agents Association (ICREA); Helen Shield, editor-in-chief of International Homes magazine and Iris Dunbar, British Institute of Interior Design.

We were very happy to be awarded “Best Property Consultancy (Asia Pacific)”, “Best Real Estate Agency (Vietnam)”, and “Best Property Consultancy (Vietnam)”. And as the highest scoring winner from the Asia Pacific region, we’re nominated to the International awards ceremony in London in October 2010 to represent Vietnam and Asia Pacific for the global awards.

Why do you think that Savills Vietnam and other Vietnamese property companies are doing so well on both the regional and global stages?
First, Vietnam is a property hotspot in Asia and there is some excellent, world-class work being done here by all sectors of the property industry; whether it is development, architecture, construction management, QS services and of course, the property consultants and agents.

For us, it’s a great honour and I can put our success down to 2 factors; great people and great clients. Our team of over 500 Vietnam based professionals made this possible. Their continuous effort to provide market leading advice and services to our clients is now being recognized by the industry not only within Vietnam, but across the region. They deserve this award and it makes me proud to be a part of this great Savills team, both in Vietnam and the Savills team globally. This pool of talent makes Savills a very enjoyable place to be and is reflected in the quality of our work and the attitude with which it is performed.

On the client side, we are fortunate enough to serve a wide range of Vietnamese and international clients in Vietnam, working with us across a full range of real estate services in Agency & Consultancy.

What can Savills do to contribute to the development of real estate market in Vietnam?
Our role in the process is basically to help investors make the right real estate decisions and to guide them towards greater success, for themselves, the market and the economy as a whole. Our agency teams help them maximise value and help buyers make informed choices. Our property management team is here to keep buildings running smoothly and tenants or occupiers happy with the development. Essentially, our role is supportive and is aimed at all real estate market participants; whether buyers or developers, tenants or owners: for them to enjoy the benefits of an active and healthy real estate market. In that, I hope we succeed! We are very proud to have been in Vietnam for the last 15 years and we hope to be part of Vietnam’s continued success for many more.
