Vietnam, Australia Strengthen Cooperation in Coal and Mining Sector

Ten leading Australian mining enterprises have arrived in Vietnam to seek business opportunities. During the 3-day visit starting on May 10, the Australian delegation, including powerful contractors and suppliers of equipment, technologies, mining services and finance, will meet with local mining businesses to exchange information and seek partners.
 
Australia is considered one of the world’s leading countries in terms of mining with 2,500 businesses and 320,000 employees involved. Some 60 per cent of mining companies in the world utilize software developed in Australia, according the Australian Trade Commission.
 
Following the success of the inaugural Australian mining mission to Vietnam in 2009, this group forms the second mining mission to Vietnam , which includes major mining contractors, project finance, as well as leading equipment, technology and mining services providers from Australia .
 
On the Australian mission will include a half-day technical seminar in Hanoi on May 11. The group will also conduct various mine site visits and meet with local Vietnamese companies involved in the mining sector.
 
According to Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Allaster Cox, initiatives as the Australian mining mission help to strengthen the bilateral relationship between Australia and Vietnam .
 
''For Vietnam, a country rich in natural resources and with mining key to its future economic growth, the visit by these leading Australian mining companies provides the national industry with a unique opportunity to tap into Australian knowledge and expertise'', the Ambassador said.
 
Australia is a world leader in mining. According to the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade), the country has some 2,500 companies involved in the mining sector, employing 320,000 workers. Approximately 60 percent of the world’s mines use software that was developed in Australia.
