Vietnam Licenses 36,300 Businesses in Jan-Jun: Ministry

Vietnam licensed 36,300 companies with a combined registered capital of VND222.2 trillion ($11.69 billion) in the first half of this year, the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) said.
 
In May, the country licensed 6,000 enterprises with a total registered capital of VND33 trillion, the MPI added.
 
The Southeast Asian country licensed 83,000 companies in 2009 despite the global economic downturn and expects to have 540,000 businesses by late this year.
 
At the end of 2009, the nation had around 460,000 companies, up to over 90% of this being small and medium-sized enterprises. (mpi.org.vn)
