Third Quarter GDP Climbs 7.16%
The General Statistics Office (GSO) said Vietnam’s gross domestic product (GDP) expanded 6.52 percent year on year in the first nine months of 2010, including 5.83 percent growth in the first quarter, 6.4 percent in the second quarter and 7.16 percent in the third quarter.
This was a significantly high growth compared with the 4.62 percent expansion in the same period of 2009.
In January- September, Vietnam’s agriculture, forestry and aquaculture sector rose 2.89 percent; industry and construction sector grew by 7.29 percent, service sector up 7.24 percent; and services increased 7.24 percent.
Of GDP value, the agriculture, forestry and aquaculture sector contributed 21.09 percent; the industry and construction sector made up for 40.85 percent; and services sector took up 38.06 percent.
