Vietnam Biz Urged to Boost Exports of Building Materials
The African Market Department under the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Construction’s International Cooperation Department and the IEC Joint Stock Company has held a seminar to boost the country’s exports of construction materials.
The seminar is expected to help local firms to seek more opportunities and solutions on accelerating their exports of building materials such as cement, brick, enameled tiles and sanitary wares.
The event drew attention of around 100 representatives from 60 local firms, including Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation, Viglacera Corporation, Thanh Tri Pottery Company, Ha Long Cement Company and Nghi Son Cement Company.
Addressing the event, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Tran Nam urged domestic firms to accelerate building material exports to potential markets such as the Middle East and Africa.
Vietnam is estimated to earn $310 million from exports of sanitary wares and $368 million of construction glass to the Middle East this year.
The Southeast Asian nation also aims to expand trade with the Middle East to $3.1 billion in 2010 and to $9.6 billion in 2015. (Trade & Industry, Investment)
