Vietnam PM Urges to Approve $100M ADB Loan for Irrigation Project
The Vietnamese prime minister has urged the State President to approve a $100-million loan to improve irrigation infrastructure in Vietnam.
An agreement to this effect was signed between ADB and the State Bank of Vietnam in Hanoi on September 7.
The Strengthening Water Management and Irrigation Systems Rehabilitation Project will repair the 50-year-old Bac Hung Hai irrigation and drainage system in the northern provinces of Hung Yen, Hai Duong and Hai Phong.
The project is expected to benefit as many as 1.9 million people living in these provinces.
It will also build a new training center for the Water Resources University which is expected to be completed in June, 2016 and train 14,200 people. (New Hanoi)
